*********************************************************************** Product: Daily Forecast of Geomagnetic Activity Issued: 2020 July 24 05:48UTC Prepared by the Athens Space Weather Forecasting Center *********************************************************************** 1. Solar activity Solar activity was almost stable during the past 24 hours. Solar Flux (10.7 cm) measured on 23.07.2020 at 20:00 UTC was 70 sfu. The background X-Ray flux is at the class A1.0 level. The geomagnetic field was at very quiet levels on July 23. A CME observed on July 19, at 09:36 UT. The Time-of-Arrival (ToA) of this CME calculated with the EAMv2 model. The ToA is July 23, 13:02 UT. The Kp index now is at unsettled levels with Kp=3. 2. Solar Wind Geomagnetic Activity Solar Wind speed from ACE: 360 km/s. Solar Wind speed from STEREO A: 380 km/s. Solar Wind speed from STEREO B: --- km/s. The southward component Bz is: 1 nT south. 3. Solar Energetic Particle Events Protons and electrons are quiet. 4. Coronal Holes A new coronal hole (CH968) was in Earth facing position on July 19. Weak effects from this CH are expected on the first half of July 23. 5. Geophysical Activity Forecast The geomagnetic field is expected to be at quiet to unsettled levels, with a chance for active intervals, on July 24-25 due to weak effects from CH968 as well as the arrival of a faint CME of July 19. Quiet conditions are expected on July 26.
