*********************************************************************** Product: Daily Forecast of Geomagnetic Activity Issued: 2020 July 12 07:06UTC Prepared by the Athens Space Weather Forecasting Center *********************************************************************** 1. Solar activity Solar activity was almost stable during the past 24 hours. Solar Flux (10.7 cm) measured on 11.07.2020 at 20:00 UTC was 69 sfu. The background X-Ray flux is at the class < A1 level. The geomagnetic field was at very quiet levels on July 11. A CME observed on July 9, at 02:00 UT. The Time-of-Arrival (ToA) of this CME calculated with the EAMv2 model. The ToA is July 13, 21:21 UT. The Kp index now is at quiet levels with Kp=1. 2. Solar Wind Geomagnetic Activity Solar Wind speed from ACE: 310 km/s. Solar Wind speed from STEREO A: 400 km/s. Solar Wind speed from STEREO B: --- km/s. The southward component Bz is: 1 nT south. 3. Solar Energetic Particle Events Protons and electrons are quiet. 4. Coronal Holes A new coronal hole (CH967) in the northern hemisphere of the visible solar disk was in Earth facing position on July 8. Weak effects from this CH are expected on the first half of July 12. 5. Geophysical Activity Forecast The geomagnetic field is expected to be at quiet to unsettled levels, with a chance for active intervals, on July 12-14 due to weak CH967 effects as well as CME arrival. Date Estimated Ap index Expected geom. storm 2020.07.12 06 - 2020.07.13 10 - 2020.07.14 12 - *************************************************************************** Athens Space Weather Forecasting Center Physics Department, National & Kapodistrian University of Athens Athens Neutron Monitor Station A.NE.MO.S Tel.: +30 210 727 6901 email: spaceweather@phys.uoa.gr URL: http://spaceweather.phys.uoa.gr ***************************************************************************
