*********************************************************************** Product: Daily Forecast of Geomagnetic Activity Issued: 2019 June 09 07:09UTC Prepared by the Athens Space Weather Forecasting Center *********************************************************************** 1. Solar activity Solar activity was increasing during the past 24 hours. Solar Flux (10.7 cm) measured on 08.06.2019 at 20:00 UTC was 68 sfu. The background X-Ray flux is at the class A7 level. The geomagnetic field was at very quiet to minor storm levels on June 8. The source of a minor storm (G1) which noticed on June 08 is still unknown, but it is possible a CME to trigger this storm. No obviously Earth directed CMEs were observed in available LASCO imagery. The Kp index now is at almost quiet levels with Kp=2. 2. Solar Wind Geomagnetic Activity Solar Wind speed from ACE: 450 km/s. Solar Wind speed from STEREO A: 320 km/s. Solar Wind speed from STEREO B: --- km/s. The southward component Bz is: 2 nT south. 3. Solar Energetic Particle Events Protons and electrons are quiet. 4. Coronal Holes A new equatorial coronal hole (CH922) on the visible solar disk was in Earth facing position on June 05. An extension of the northern polar coronal hole (CH923) will be in Earth facing position on June 8-9. 5. Geophysical Activity Forecast The geomagnetic field is expected to be at almost quiet levels, with a chance for unsettled intervals, on June 9 due to weak effects from CH922 and at quiet levels on June 10-11.
